I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has practiced in the Fredericksburg, Virginia,  community for 25 years, both in the private and public sector.  I received a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from George Mason University and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. I also hold an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Contemplative Practice from the School of Social Work at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. In addition to my traditional training, I have been meditating since 1977 when I began studying Transcendental Meditation.   Over the years I have explored mindfulness practices.  Since 1999,  I have  used  and taught Usui Reiki. I enjoy sharing this nurturing, healing art with others.

As a psychotherapist, I believe that each of us holds the capacity to utilize our personal creativity to resolve life's challenges.  I seek to assist the folks I work with to find their strengths.  I utilize a number of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,  ACT, Solution Focused, Interactive Guided Imagery,  Ericksonian Hypnosis, and play therapy, including work with sand tray.  Over time I have also added music evoked imagery and expressive arts to my pool of therapeutic options and resources.  Upon the initial therapy session, we will work together to determine the most beneficial modality for you, your family, or your child.

If you are more interested in personal development, I am beginning to offer Astrological consultations.
I combine the depth skills of a seasoned psychotherapist with an interpretation of your birth chart, progressed chart, and planetary transits.  Please click on the Psychological Astrology link to learn more.
